BARE03DL: Thierry Arnal aka Amantra develops and hones his engrossing artistry sculpting "Missing Link", a subtly evolving drone venture.

Across 38 minutes of engulfing guitar swells swathed in abrasive scrunch, heavily textured slabs of sonics unfold and contort like some metaphysical apparition. In the first half, Arnal spouts forth plumes of hairraising howl that is underscored by an otherworldly pulsating resonance. The second half gradually picks up lighter-than-air tension in play, reproducing images of stepping into some uncharted territory — be it literal or figurative — like the cold vacuum of weightless space.

Amantra has created a truly open-ended album that leaves more questions than answers. And this is said in best intent — "Missing Link" portrays strangely sedative elements beneath its veil of pulverised ugliness; "enigmatic" may very well be the best synopsis for this album.
